At least 3 dead in I-5 crash; freeway closed

Late Friday evening a severe accident occurred on the 5 freeway near Santa Clarita. Nearly 15 large trucks were involved a pile-up that occurred near a bridge utilized by these trucks. The bridge is somewhat of a tunnel that at night is very dark and the truck drivers will complain of the darkness and blind spots that occur. On this particular night it was raining causing the conditions to be even more dangerous which was the reason for the pile-up. Freeway driving in California, in particular the 5 freeway, is very dangerous for all drivers. Safety is the biggest concern and drivers should be alerted when situations like this occur because it alerts people to be more cautious when driving, especially when conditions are poor. Media attention after accidents of this magnitude should be very high because it shows people that these situations do occur and can easily be prevented. If the media places a high interest in covering these stories drivers will become more cautious in hopes that a situation like this doesn’t occur to them.
